Protection of a tapping by TEDO PBM system
Surface preparation
The surface can be cleaned by brushing.
Care should be taken to remove dust and other dirt, non-adherent rust and generally any particles likely to end up between the surface of the metal and the coating strip.
Step 1 (optional): Applying the paste
The paste provides additional impregnation of the anticorrosive mass into the pores of the metal. It is recommended:
- on pitted and/or corroded surfaces
- on wet surfaces
Apply the paste with a gloved hand or a brush, making sure to cover the entire surface to be protected.
Step 2: Applying the grease strip
Apply pre-cut pieces as shown in the diagram. Then apply the strip in a spiral, with a minimum of 50% overlap, under slight tension, making sure to cover the entire surface to be protected. For tees and elbows, apply in a crisscross pattern like a bandage.
Smooth well after application to remove any air bubbles and close the coils.
Step 3: Application of the mechanical protection strip
Begin wrapping over the factory coating to ensure good adhesion and pull the tape tight.
Then apply the strip in a spiral, with a minimum overlap of 50%, under tension, proceeding as for the grease strip.

Then apply the strip in a spiral, with a minimum of 50% overlap, under slight tension, making sure to cover the entire surface to be protected.
Smooth well after application to remove any air bubbles and close the coils.
Application du mastic
The putty simultaneously ensures the wetting of the metal and the filling of the voids.
Apply the sealant by hand or with a trowel, making sure to fill all voids so that no air or water remains trapped under the coating.
Chamfer any corners.
Finishing the coating with a grease strip
Wrap the putty completely with greaseproof bandage, crossing over as if you were making a bandage.
Application of mechanical protection
Proceed as for the fat strip, starting if possible offset from it.
